Katie & Joe’s New Year’s Eve Wedding – Boston

The 2009 wedding season ended with a bang! Literally. My last wedding of the year was Katie & Joe‘s rockin’ wedding at the Seaport Hotel on New Year’s Eve – complete with fireworks provided by the city of Boston! This was the first time I’d ever photographed a wedding on New Year’s Eve, and I actually loved it! I’ve always found New Years to be a bit of a let down – expectations are high for some big fun time, and it’s never quite as exciting as you’d hoped. But celebrating at a wedding and dancing the night away with my camera in hand definitely did not disappoint!

The evening started with the bridesmaids helping Katie get ready. She was so cute and excited that as soon as I got there she wanted to get into her dress!

One of the fun things about big bridal parties is all that goes on in between portraits…

I LOVED the shots of the girls helping Katie bustle her dress! Melissa’s take was particularly beautiful…

My take on the moment…

After we got Katie all bustled, we ran outside to the bridge to the World Trade Center for a few night shots with the city lights.

It was FREEZING out, but Katie & Joe were total troopers for making these happen!!

I love the cake, but the colorful lights behind make me love this shot! That, and I’m kinda hungry right now… ;)

The band for the night was Brickpark Entertainment, and they were SO fun!

And perhaps my favorite part was that Katie ended the night singing a little Journey with the band. A girl after my own heart ♥

Katie and Joe – thank you so much for inviting me to document your wedding! It was an absolute pleasure to spend New Year’s Eve celebrating with you and your friends & family!

And thank you, Melissa for giving up New Year’s with your husband to shoot with me! You were a huge help, and so fun to work with… not to mention you got some great photos! :)

Featured Wedding on Beantown Bride!

My friend and fellow photographer, Brittany Blando, recently launched a great new wedding resource for planning luxury weddings in and around Boston, called Beantown Bride. Baby Chloe at 4 months – Year-in-the-Life

I am really loving these Year-In-The-Life photo sessions! It is so fun to capture all the changes as a child grows over the course of her first year on this earth! It’s pretty amazing, actually.

You may remember baby Chloe, who was born to Gretchen & Justin last summer. Well, she’s just growing and growing, and we had some time right around her 4-month birthday to capture some new images. This may be my favorite age…somewhere between 3 months and crawling is the sweet spot. They’re adorable and chubby, they have personality and expression, they can handle being moved around and will put up with a lot of photo taking, and they can’t get away! And Chloe proved to be all of those things…

The next few images were taken with my Nikon 105mm micro lens – it let’s me get in nice and tight!

Gretchen & Justin – I hope you guys are well, and Chloe’s enjoying her first Boston winter! Thank you for having me into your home yet again. Chloe is adorable, and I can’t wait to see how much she grows by our next session! :)

Baby Delia – Newborn Portraits

Not long ago, I captured some maternity portraits for Eileen & Fabio as part of a Year-In-The-Life Session. Well, just a couple months later, baby Delia came into the world! I met up with them over the holidays to capture some of Delia’s first hours at home.

Newborns are so tiny and delicate and precious, and they grow up so fast! It’s great to be able to get there to document the first days of a brand new life!
