Jane & Jason’s Spring Wedding – Cambridge MA

Jane & Jason‘s wedding was so lovely! It was a chilly Spring day, but the sun was shining and Jane & Jason couldn’t have been happier!

I met up with Jane at the salon where she was getting her hair & make-up done – and my jaw nearly dropped to the floor when they busted out this birdcage veil! LOVE it!!

Then we headed over to Highrock to finish getting ready. I sat in wait at the bottom of the stairs for Jane’s friend to walk by with the dress and loved how it turned out!

Once Jane & Jason were ready, we cleared out the sanctuary so they could have a private moment for their First Look. Well, you know, a private moment with me, my assistant CoCo, and my second shooter Jules ;) CoCo captured this shot of Jason waiting for his bride

and Jules caught Jane’s reaction to seeing him waiting for her. I love the look on her face!!

Seeing a couple praying together is always one of the most touching moments on a wedding day for me

After the First Look, we took a few portraits in the church. Highrock is so bright and full of sunlight – it worked out perfectly!

Then it was time for the ceremony! People often think that the First Look would ruin the moment of coming down the aisle, but look how excited they are!

We took a few photos out by the Charles River on our way to our hotel, but man it was cold & windy! I liked watching Jason trying to keep her warm on the way back to the limo :)

So, we took a few more portraits inside the The Charles Hotel instead!

Haha! Jules caught this great moment of Jason & Jane busting into the reception – football style!

I was totally excited for their first dance because they’d warned me that they were going to do the scene from Glee when Quinn & Sam perform Lucky! They even recorded themselves singing and danced to their own song! It was totally adorable – and they are quite wonderful singers as it turns out.

And on the rarest of occasions, he dipped her at the end right in front of me! Half the time it feels like they dip facing the wrong way, but this was just perfect :)

After that, it was a super fun dance party all afternoon!

Jane & Jason – thanks so much for trusting us with your wedding memories! It was so fun to be a part of your day and to see how happy you two are! I hope it just gets better and better as the years go by :)

Faith & Ryan’s Wedding – Bedford MA

My friends Faith & Ryan got married this winter, and I was so happy to capture the day! It’s always fun to be behind the scenes with a bride on her wedding day, but when it’s an old friend, it’s even better!

We started the day with Faith while she was getting ready in her suite at the Bedford Doubletree Hotel. Faith looked so beautiful!! I love this shot, the shape of her arms, and the light through her veil. so pretty!

It’s always a great opportunity to get some portraits taken before everything gets crazy

Then we headed to the Vineyard Cambridge to get ready for the ceremony!

Lieschen & Stephen’s Winter Wedding – Beacon Hill

I’ve known Lieschen for a few years now. She is both friend and chiropractor – invaluable on so many levels! I was excited for her last year when she met Stephen and fell in love – and was doubly excited when she called recently to ask me to shoot their wedding just a few weeks later!

The day started at the Liberty Hotel down in Boston. This painting made such a cool backdrop for her dress!

Then it was down to the courtyard for some portraits. We lucked out and had a really lovely day to go outside! Though, snuggling did make it even warmer :)

The wedding was shortly after the holidays, and The Liberty Hotel still had Christmas trees hanging from the ceiling. It was the coolest way I’d ever seen a hotel decorate for the holidays!

Then we headed down Charles Street to The Hungry I for their intimate ceremony & reception

Surrounded by their immediate families, the got married in front of the fire place in a candle-lit ceremony

It was perhaps both the darkest and the smallest ceremony I’ve ever photographed! It was lovely though!!

After the ceremony, everyone headed upstairs for a nice dinner, some toasts, and lots of laughter!

One of the nieces was a little bored at that point, and kept wanting me to play with her… so, you know, I HAD to ;)

The other niece seemed to be having a good time ;)

Amy & Lawrence’s Orthodox Wedding – Boston

Just a few short days after their engagement session, I met Amy & Lawrence down at the Hilton Boston Logan for their wedding!

We started with Amy while she was getting ready

During important moments, I often keep shooting, even while I’m still focusing. Sometimes this leads to happy little mistakes :) I love this shot of Lawrence lowering her veil!

After they had a private First Look, it was time for some group portraits, and the Tisch and Bedekken. The Bedekken is definitely my favorite part of the Orthodox Jewish wedding ceremony! Its just beautiful!

Amy really wanted some photos outside, and though it wasn’t nearly as warm as it had been for the engagement session, and it was incredibly windy, it was definitely worth the effort! I love this shot CoCo got of them walking down the path!

I was shooting directly into the sun and my focusing went nuts! Another happy “mistake” - I love the focus on the sun flare!

Sometimes, I think it’s fun to share my favorite images with the brides right away, so they can see why I’m so excited :)

After the portraits, we went back in so the real party could start! Orthodox Jewish weddings have the most high-energy receptions! They may be my favorites…

I LOVE this shot that CoCo captured of Lawrence while some of they guys were dancing for him!

And every once in a while, I want to be in a photo too! ;)

Sylvia & Ricky’s Wedding at the Commander’s Mansion

I’ve already told you how much I love Sylvia & Ricky, so I probably don’t need to say that again ;) But, let me tell you how hard it was to choose images for this post! I had so many favorites from this wedding, it’s ridiculous! So, here are a few of my favorite favorites – but if you want to see more, you should check out the album on Facebook and check back here in a couple days for some of the details from the day!

My assistant Andrea Servidone captured this shot and I love it! Sylvia’s hand makes it perfect.

Ricky’s brother insisted he could tie a tie better than Ricky… Of course, Ricky re-tied the tie a few minutes later ;)

Ugh! Her dress was so GORGEOUS!! It was so soft and lovely, I just kept wanting to touch it – but I didn’t.

And Johnny had the brilliant idea to put them under the arbor. I was avoiding it because of the shadows, but I actually love how the shadows turned out. Here’s Johnny’s take on the moment.

Then it was off to the St. John’s Korean United Methodist Church in Lexington for the ceremony. I love how her Dad is looking at her before he walks her down the aisle! So sweet!

After the wedding ceremony, Sylvia & Ricky had a traditional Korean Pae Baek for their families, complete with a change of outfits, excessive heat and a piggy-back ride…

Then it was back to the Commander’s Mansion for the super fun dance party!!

Pamela & Bryan’s Wedding – Albany, NY

Pamela & Bryan found me through WeddingWire, almost 1 year ago, back when they lived in Cambridge. Since then, they’ve moved out to Albany, where they got married at the end of the Fall. I love to travel, so even going to Albany for the first time was kind of an exciting bonus! Part of my branding project included making a list of things that made me happy, and on it I put “visiting a new place for the very first time”… it’s still true, even when it seems like such an ordinary place (you know, compared to Zimbabwe or Cabo or Paris). Albany, as it turns out, is a very cool town. And Pamela & Bryan’s wedding ended up being lovely, and definitely fun!

It takes a team to dress a bride…

Pamela & Bryan decided to do a First Look before the ceremony, so we could get some portraits before the sun went down and so they didn’t have to feel rushed before the reception. So, Pamela & I went over by the Hudson River and waited for Bryan to come across the footbridge. It was COLD out but, we ended up with some great photos!

Since it was freezing, we went back to the Crowne Plaza for a few more portraits where it was nice and warm!

After portraits, it was time to get ready for the ceremony! I LOVE this shot of Pamela’s grandmother reading the program! I’m a sucker for grandparents anyway, but this is one of my faves!

The wedding was held at the beautiful Historic St. Mary’s Church

Since we’d done the first look, after the ceremony, the Pamela & Bryan just got to relax and enjoy some downtime before the reception started!

The First Dance they practiced so hard went off without a hitch!

Later in the evening they had an Anniversary Dance and Pamela’s grandparents were the only couple left on the dance floor. Pamela knew that would happen, and arranged to have their first dance song played for a special dance… You Made Me Love You by Judy Garland. I’m not going to lie, I was totally crying!

Pamela & Bryan – thank you so much for inviting us to be part of your day, and making us feel so welcome! It was such a great day, and definitely a fun party! Congratulations again, and I hope you love the photos!

Anne & Sean’s Wedding – Hingham, MA

I loved Anne & Sean‘s Wedding! The whole day was fun and full of emotion, an old fashioned feel but a little bit funky. Check out the previous post below for some more of the details.

We started the day at Anne’s parents’ house in Hingham while Anne was getting ready…

Ever since I got the new Totally Rad Actions Dirty Pictures, I’ve been able to use textures in my photos more and more. I’ve been wanting to play with this for a long time, but TRA finally came up with a way to make it easy for me… I love that :) I really liked this one with the full-blown texture. It feels like a painting to me. What do you think? Do you like it better with or without the texture?

Shortly after Anne got ready, Sean came over to the house for a First Look. When it came time for them to see each other, they really just wanted to have a private moment alone. I waited in the stairway to capture them as soon as they came out. It killed me to not get to photograph that moment, but I guess it’s not ALL about the photos in the end ;)

We did get to capture everyone else’s first look at Anne in her dress though! My assistant, Elizabeth caught this shot of Anne’s Dad and friend seeing her come down the stairs. Priceless!

Anne surprised Sean with a sign with their names on it at the theatre across from the Old Derby. I loved his reaction when he saw it!!

Ah, the militiamen! Such a cool touch to the day!

Old Ship Church is one of the most unique churches I’ve ever shot in. It’s almost entirely wood everywhere, and really beautiful – and the pews are these boxes that you step into. Totally interesting and different!

and a LOT of laughter!

After the ceremony, the militiamen fired off a round from their muskets and lead everyone in a parade down the street to the Old Derby for the reception.

First Dance!

Near the end of the night, they were still having a great time and dancing up a storm!

Anne & Sean – thank you again for letting us be a part of your day! We had so much fun, and just loved working with you and your family & friends. It’s always so nice to photograph an event where each and every guest truly loves and is so genuinely excited for the bride & groom! I hope you enjoy years and years of that kind of happiness, and all sorts of laughter together!

Jessica & Albert’s Wedding!

I love Jessica & Albert! Not only are they such a fun couple who love God with all their hearts, but Jessica is my all-time favorite blog-stalker! I mean, at least, she’s the one who leaves the most comments… If there are more of you stalkers out there – drop a comment and let me know you’re there!! ;) Seriously though, these two are awesome! We had a ton of fun at their engagement session, so I was really looking forward to their wedding day.

Jessica & Albert both got ready at Le Meridien Cambridge. Jessica was bright-eyed and ready for me as soon I got there :)

Can we talk about how cool the bed spreads are at Le Meridien??? It was originally The Hotel @ MIT – so everything’s all math-tastic :)

I loved this moment after Jessica put her dress on. She’d forgotten to put lotion on first, and so her Mom and Joyce did it for her. It was priceless.

And this is what’s great about having an assistant around. I usually bring assistants who are photo students, hoping to learn about wedding photography. I let them shoot when they have time, and then go over the images with them later. Well, Marie, captured this awesome shot of the same moment from across the room. I love it!

I love how these 3 shots go together! Jessica is looking down at her dress, while her Mom & Joyce are looking at her. Their expressions are so great!

Another thing I love about Jessica & Albert is that they did a First Look on their wedding day. A First Look is when the Bride & Groom see each other for the first time before the ceremony. I usually set it up so that they can have an intimate moment “alone” to see one another, and to talk and enjoy that moment together without everyone else around. It’s so great because you get reactions that you just can’t get during the ceremony because they can’t really talk to one another during the ceremony. Plus, it gives us a chance to get portraits out of the way beforehand instead of afterwards when you’d rather be enjoying your reception! Anyway, here are the images… Oh, the expressions on Albert’s face! excitement, joy, tears, laughter – priceless!

We didn’t do a ton of portraits of the two of them that day. They really wanted their wedding to focus on the people in their lives, and we’re planning a Trash The Dress session for later this summer anyway where we can just focus on them. Here are some of my favorites from our time together, though…

After the First Look, we were off to Harvard Memorial Church for the family portraits and the ceremony. Here’s Jessica praying before the wedding.

I have to admit, that this next shot was an accident. I was holding my flash next to me, forgetting that I still had it attached to the camera and when I took the picture it went off right next to the lens – and this is the result! Sometimes, accidents are fun!

At the end of the ceremony, Jessica’s Dad got up to give some announcements, but ended up giving a beautiful speech as well! He had everyone in tears (including me)

but coming down the aisle, they were all smiles!

After the ceremony, we got ALL of the guests together on the stairs outside the church for a big group shot!

I had everyone cheer for Jessica & Albert – and here’s the result. My favorite is Jessica’s Dad, in the front. Love it!

Then it was off to the reception at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge

I love it when couples use the engagement photos at the wedding!

And playing with the kids. Any surprise she’s a Sunday School Teacher?? I don’t know, it looks like she’s kinda uncomfortable with the little ones. I don’t think they like her much either… ;)

Most hilarious cake-cutting EVER! Albert gave her a humungous bite of cake – poor Jessica looked like she was going to choke! But, she stuffed his face too :)

Now, the reception was really like none I’ve ever seen. The majority of the reception was given over to Jessica & Albert’s friends and family. There were skits, songs, videos, and hilarious performances honoring (and roasting) the couple. It was so cool to see what their friends think of them, and how they feel about them, and to laugh along with them! They are SO loved!

And can I just say, that I can’t think of them now without singing “Chi-Pang, Chi-Pang” to myself in my head (to the tune of She Bangs)… maybe you had to be there…

Mixed in with the skits were some toasts by the wedding party. Once again, Jessica’s Dad had us all crying…

And then there was their one kiss of the day – at least that we all got to see ;) They do NOT like PDA (public displays of affection) and it took a room full of their friends banging their glasses and cheering to get them to kiss in public, but it worked! I am a bit proud of myself for capturing this. If I’d been a split second later, I would have missed it!

It was a really great day, and such a wonderful celebration of this beautiful couple!

Jessica & Albert – thank you again for having me! It’s been so great getting to know you and spending time with you over the last few months! I can’t wait for our TTD!!!
