Women’s History Month is not over yet, so we’re not done celebrating the women we admire & appreciate! Here’s the second part of my instagram series #celebratingwomen… caption below each photo
Hugs and so much love to all of our brides who know it’s OK to cry at your wedding!! Even I started crying when Britt put on her gorgeous @nicolemillernyc wedding dress! This day is only going to happen once, so don’t worry about your make-up or the photos – just let yourself experience every moment fully! There’s no such thing as ugly-crying, if you ask us 💗⠀ #celebratingwomen #kristaphoto #womenshistorymonth⠀
I love this photo because it speaks volumes about the relationship between Cindy and her daughter, Mira. In working with them, I was so touched by the way Cindy loves Mira, speaks to her, takes care of her, celebrates her, makes sure she knows she’s special, not “special” – it’s absolutely beautiful. So, we’re celebrating Cindy, and all the mama’s out there taking care of kids with special needs and extra challenges – your strength, patience, endurance, and love are inspiring! #kristaphoto⠀#celebratingwomen #womenshistorymonth
Suzanne has inspired me since the day we met, and I admire her in ways I could never have imagined back then. First, she flipped her whole life upside down when she became a Christian and made some seriously hard choices that few people could have made. Then she flipped her whole life upside down when she joined @mercyships and moved to Benin. I watched from afar as she witnessed children she loved dying of diseases she could not cure. I watched her make the hard choice to keep loving every single kid God brought onto that ship, no matter the painful cost. Then she flipped her life upside down to move back home, marry her Dutchie, and have this cute little baby up there! And now her life has flipped once more as she & her family have embarked upon the wonderfully wild journey of #fostercare and #adoption. Once again, I’m watching her learn hard things, and make hard choices, and offer up her heart to these babies no matter the cost. She’s one of the most remarkable people I know, and I’ve learned more from her than I can say. Suzanne, I think you’re amazing, and I am so blessed to know you! 💗
I’ve been thinking about this beautiful woman a lot recently. We shared a bit of her story in the documentary film I worked on a few years ago, Untouchable: Children of God, but her story isn’t over yet. Her courage, strength & perseverance have inspired me more than you can imagine. #celebratingwomen #kristaphoto #womenshistorymonth
I’m getting ready for a wedding industry party tonight, so I figure now’s as good a time as any to give a shout out to all my PHOTOG LADIES!! My friends who are wedding photographers are some of the hardest working, most creative, talented & hilarious people I’ve ever met. I am SO thankful for the ways each of you encourages me, challenges me, inspires me, kicks my butt, gives me hugs, and lets me cry on your shoulders. I for sure wouldn’t have made it through the last few years without you people! And naturally, because we’re photographers I don’t have a real photo of the lot of you. So this is a sparkly photo of me and my Enna – my very first photog friend 💗 ⠀#kristaphoto⠀#celebratingwomen #womenshistorymonth
It never ceases to amaze me that there’s a whole person growing in there! I know pregnancy is most natural thing in the world, but it’s also like the craziest thing ever! So here’s to all the women out there who are growing a human – I think you’re miraculous! And here’s to Spring because it’s *almost* here 🌷☀️💗⠀ #kristaphoto⠀#celebratingwomen #womenshistorymonth⠀
I’m pretty proud to say that we have a lot of brides & clients who work in Science & Technology! Sumiko, for example, is an epidemiologist & veterinarian. Our brief chat during their engagement session about the ebola outbreak left me totally impressed and determined to stalk her facebook feed anytime any disease outbreaks make the news (Zika anyone?). As a girl who was a bit of a math nerd, spent a few years doing psychological research, and who still geeks out over really complicated spreadsheets… I’m extra proud of all of our #womeninSTEM who buck the trends and prove that women excel in STEM careers! (see what I did there?)⠀#kristaphoto #celebratingwomen
Come back tomorrow for the last post in this series celebrating Women’s History Month!
These pictures are absolutely beautiful!
Thank you, Serena!!
