After photographing this girl for the last year, we’re finally getting to know each other! I got a smile as soon as I walked in the door, and we had such a fun time playing… especially once we gave her a humungous cake! Check out my favorites from Kayla’s One Year Portrait Session!
Baby Kayla’s Year-in-the-Life — 7 Month Portraits
More fun from Kayla’s first Year-in-the-Life! I went up to visit them right before Christmas for Kayla’s 7 Month Portraits… and a little holiday cheer! This is like my FAVORITE stage of baby-ness!! They can hold themselves up on their tummies, they can sit up, and giggle, and really connect with you — but they’re not quite able to get away yet ;) It’s the BEST time for photos!!
Baby Kayla’s Year-in-the-Life — 3 Month Portraits
Amy introduced you to sweet little Kayla a few weeks ago. I visited her four times over the course of her first year of life, and I must say, it’s been very fun watching her grow up from infant, to baby, to toddler! She’s such a sweetie!
Baby Ilan’s 3 Month Portrait Session
I shot Amy & Lawrence’s wedding a few years ago, and then they moved to California, and more recently they had a baby! Thankfully for me, they came back to Boston for a visit and I got to meet little Ilam – and boy is he a cutie! He woke up from a nap just after I arrived and he looked up and smiled at me… and it was precious, and we became friends :) Check out my favorites from our time together!
Spring Mini Sessions 2016 – Lake Quannapowitt
Once or twice a year, I offer Portrait Mini Sessions for those families who want updated portraits, but perhaps don’t have the time or the budget for a full session. I keep them limited to clients and friends I’ve worked with before, who have a good understanding of my style. It makes these quick 15 minute sessions go so much smoother when we already have a relationship! This year, we wanted some pretty Spring colors, so we ended up shooting in the old cemetery at Lake Quannapowitt, in Wakefield MA. It was BEAUTIFUL!
Spring Album & Portrait Sale!
It’s that time of year again… we’ve (hopefully) had the last snow, the flowers and leaves are budding, the sun is actually shining, and Bostonians are starting to come out of hibernation! At Krista Photography, we’re in the calm before the storm that is wedding season. That means we have a little extra time to design wedding albums and photograph lots of families before the craziness begins again in June. To celebrate, we’ve decided to have a little Spring Sale… just in time for tax returns to roll in ;)
Headshots
Occasionally, I photograph headshots for small businesses, non-profits, artists, and individuals. My philosophy and approach are simple: relaxed, natural portraits of people being themselves. Pricing starts at $150 per person and varies based on the complexity of the shoot, the location, the need for backdrops/lighting/assistants, etc. Please contact us to discuss your vision and schedule your portraits!
Team Work — Now Hiring!
In my last post about purpose, I mentioned that I need a team of people to accomplish it all. Our team changed a lot last year, and now it’s changing again! In the last year, CoCo transitioned from working as Photo Editor and Associate, to working only as an Associate while she’s taken on the new challenge of working as a Project Manager for Sperling Interactive. So we hired our intern, Pamela to take over as Photo Editor. Then we hired my dear friend, Jennifer to work as our Studio Manager. This past December, our Vendor Relations Specialist, Amy decided it was time to go back to working in her passion, Social Work. And Pam is now leaving us for “the way life should be” in Maine! There have been more than enough tearful “so long”s this year – but it’s exciting to see each of these ladies stepping into new chapters and taking big leaps of faith! There was maybe one day this year when we had all five of us in the studio at the same time (and man was it crowded!) – and now it’s going to be down to me & Jen (I made a handy chart, in case you can’t keep up)!
PURPOSE
Coming off of the heels of another great Inspire Photo Retreats, I’ve been thinking a lot about PURPOSE.
The last two years have been a bit rough, to be honest. Bringing CoCo on as an Associate has been SO AWESOME in so many ways, but it’s also brought a lot of challenges along with it. I’ve found myself bogged down in the work of editing, and running the studio and never feeling like there was enough time to do all of the things I know I SHOULD do… like SHOOT more, train my employees to take over more, wrap up our re-branding project, blogging, networking, budgeting, strategizing, planning and dreaming. Not to mention spending time with friends & family, and leaving my house once in a while! Running my own business is often totally overwhelming, and it’s really easy to forget WHY I’m doing all of this. So, now that I’m finished editing our 2015 work, and I’m officially in the “off-season”, I’m trying to get back to the point.
What is my purpose? WHY does Krista Photography exist?
Rebecca + Kevin – A Harvard Art Museums Wedding
I met Rebecca over six years ago, when she was a bridesmaid in her sister, Elizabeth’s wedding. I liked her right away because she was the youngest (just like me) and she seemed to be the most sentimental and definitely the most likely to cry of the three sisters (just like me). I saw her a few times over the years as I continued to photograph their family out in Michigan, and here in Boston. So, when I got her email telling me she’d gotten engaged, I was so thrilled she wanted me to shoot the wedding, but I was also really excited to see the family again, and to witness Rebecca marry the man she loves!! There really is something special about working with the same family again and again over the years! Take a look at my favorites from their beautiful wedding day…
