Sarah & Peter’s Wedding – Winchester, MA

Sarah & Peter were married this summer on a wicked hot day.  Now that it’s getting cold outside, it’s hard to even imagine just how hot we were that day!

The day started out at Sarah’s family home in Lexington.  As soon as I walked in, I noticed the gorgeous daisies on the counter.  The bright red and the little touches of blue were just beautiful!

Sarah took a moment to read through the scripture for the ceremony.

The ceremony was held at First Baptist Church in Winchester.  Sarah & her Dad shared a moment before heading down the aisle.

Both Sarah & Peter’s families are very musical.  Their friends and siblings participated in the ceremony by singing and playing instruments.  It was a beautiful time of worship – so special and personal.  Even with sweat dripping down my face in the un-air conditioned church, I loved it ;)

After some portraits, we headed back across the road to Hope Christian Church for the reception.  Hope recently planted my church, GENESIS in Woburn.  Sarah’s Dad is an elder at Hope, and I’ve known their family since before I moved to Boston.  It was fun to be so familiar with the surroundings, and the guests, and to feel like such a part of the family at this wedding.

Father of the Bride's Toast

The reception was early in the day, so instead of dancing they had a lot of great toasts and games and fun throughout the afternoon.  Peter’s brother gave a tear-jerking toast.

After a fun afternoon, these two literally ran out the door and off to their new life together!  Elizabeth was able to capture this great shot as they ran through the bubbles.

Megan & Mike’s Wedding – Black & White FILM

I was on my way to Megan & Mike‘s wedding when I got a call from Megan asking if I could shoot some film that day as well!  Luckily, my film bag was at home prepped and ready and my assistant was able to run back and pick it up.  And I’m so glad she asked :)  I love shooting film, and now generally include a bit in all my packages.  It just adds such a cool touch to the wedding day, and in this case, it was the perfect classic touch to go with some of the classic details.

Megan & Mike’s Wedding – Concord, MA

I knew just by talking to Megan on the phone that I was going to love her!  She and Mike live out in San Francisco and were planning their wedding here in Concord, where Megan grew up.  I met Megan and her Mom once, but didn’t meet Mike until the Rehearsal Dinner.  They are such a fun and sweet couple, and their family and friends are just wonderful.  I had so much fun spending the day with them, I can’t even tell you!

The day began at Megan’s parents’ house…

Megan & her bridesmaids have been friends since pre-school, and their families are extremely close.  I just fell in love with them and the friendships they’ve formed over the years!  They had a little dance-party in Megan’s room while they got ready :)

Instead of renting a limo for the day, they hired these antique cars.  It’s a 1928 Ford Model A – so cool!

Erin & Steve’s Wedding – Cambridge, MA

Erin and Steve‘s wedding was wonderful!  The weather was lovely, Erin was absolutely stunning, and they spent the day surrounded by family and having a really fun time.  Sounds about right, doesn’t it?  :)

Erin, having her makeup done… totally glamorous!

Erin’s Grandmother was pretty much my favorite person at the wedding :)  She’s the cutest!

I’m loving the curve of her waist, and the way her hand is laying on her hip… so gorgeous!

After the ceremony, we went over to Hotel Marlowe for some portraits before the reception.  Hotel Marlowe is now officially one of my favorite hotels for weddings!  It is so funky and has so many interesting details, that I actually preferred to do portraits inside for a change!  Plus, they set up a Wii during the cocktail hour and that is just the coolest!

What’s better than a photo of a cute Grandma?  A photo of her dancing with her new grandson!  Totally precious!

I’m also a sucker for cute little kids at weddings, not just Grandmas…

Thanks Elizabeth for capturing a nice shot of me during the wedding!   I’m not a fan of having my picture taken, like most photographers, so it’s always nice when someone can catch a good one ;)

Erin & Steve spent most of the night dancing with their friends, and having a fabulous time!

Erin & Steve – thank you so much for having us along to capture your day!  The wedding was so fun, and I hope you have as much fun going through all the images and living it all over again!

Kris & Erin’s Indiana Wedding

Earlier this summer, I had the chance to go back home to Indiana for some quality time with the fam, and to photograph my little cousin’s wedding.  Kristopher has always been one of my favorites (ok, I probably say that about all my cousins, but still, it’s true) so when he asked me to shoot his wedding, I couldn’t say no!  Kris is a comedian, a video producer, and a film maker.   So naturally, they chose a theater as the backdrop for their wedding.

Kris and Erin got married at the Paramount Theatre in Anderson, Indiana.

Kris cried like a baby during the ceremony ;) but there was also a LOT of laughter!

Kris & Erin had their first dance to Flight of the Conchords, “Most Beautiful Girl in the Room”… press play and enjoy!

They are really good dancers…

Their reception was a blast and all their friends were dancing like crazy.  I could share SO many pics, but instead, I’ll just share this one of Kris dancing with our sassy Grandma.  It makes me smile :)

And, here’s a little snapshot of my family.  Looking at this I realized how much my sister looks like my Dad, and I look like my mom!  I think when we were younger that was reversed.  Funny how that happens as you grow up :)

Indiana Wedding

Kris & Erin – I love you guys!!  I’m so glad I could be there for your wedding!  Now that you’re both living it up in NYC, you’ll have to come up to Boston for a visit :)  I hope you love the photos!!

Meaghan & Steve’s Wedding – Danvers, MA

I love Meaghan & Steve :)  These two are good friends of mine, and it was so wonderful for me to be able to attend and shoot their wedding this summer.  They got married at the home of a friend in Danvers on a cold and rainy summer day, and had such a fun and joyful party.  I’m excited to share a few of my favorite photos…

So, the house where they got married is this huge home decorated in a very ornate and eclectic style.  I saw people curiously walking by this painting of a cat-man all day, but Anne Ruthmann (who came to shoot with me) captured this priceless moment.  I *love* this photo!!

My brother (in law) officiated the ceremony.  It was the first wedding we’ve ever “worked” together.  It was kinda fun having him and my sister there, along with a bunch of close friends.  Totally strange to have your worlds collide like that, but still fun!

Anne came along for this wedding in part to help me out, but also to have some fun and try some new things and take some risks.  She brought a tilt/shift lens and I absolutely love how the images turned out!

Alli & Glenn’s Wedding at OceanCliff – Newport, RI

So, as you may remember from this post a while back, Alli and Glenn‘s wedding was a bit unusual! Due to a random case of the chicken pox, Krista wasn’t able to be at the wedding; fortunately Melissa Coe and Jessica Cardinalli were kind enough to step in and cover the wedding for her. I’ve been doing an internship with Krista since February to learn more about how a photography business is run, and have been assisting her at most of her weddings this summer as well. So, for Alli and Glenn’s wedding, I went along with Melissa and Jessica to try to assist them and get even more photos of Alli and Glenn’s special day! Since Krista wasn’t able to be at the event, she asked me, Elizabeth, to write this post to give you all a sense of the day…

Driving down to the Oceancliff Hotel, the weather looked to be anything but cooperative – rainy, misty, and downright ugly. However, by the time we arrived, the skies were clear! And soon the weather was sunny and beautiful, and the bright blue sky was a perfect backdrop for the bright, crisp colors Alli & Glenn had chosen.

While the bridesmaids had brightly colored dresses with white bouquets, Alli’s bridal bouquet was highlighted with vivid peonies. I took my time making sure that we had some photographs that captured the beauty of the florist’s work!

Melissa captured this beautiful silhouette of Alli, as well as the following series of her dress and getting ready.

Melissa got a number of beautiful shots of the rings and other pieces of jewelry throughout the day; this one stood out above the rest.

Newport Wedding

Alli and Glenn met before the ceremony to enjoy a few moments together to take it all in, and to take some portraits so they would have more time later to enjoy their reception.

Newport Wedding

We drove down the coast a little way to a spot they’d chosen, where Melissa captured this moment.

Newport Wedding

I stayed back and got this shot of them walking up the road a short way.

Jessica did a great job catching them from a completely different angle and perspective.

Jessica captured this moment when Alli’s dad walked her down the aisle to meet Glenn.

One great thing about having the ceremony at the top of a hill was that I was able to walk down below, then around to the back of the guests, to get two different perspectives on the setting.

Jessica was waiting for the newlyweds as they came down the aisle, surrounded by their family and friends. You could tell all through the ceremony just how important it was to them that the people they cared about were a part of this day!

Newport Wedding

After some group portraits, we took a few more portraits of the two of them as the sun was setting. I was glad to be able to capture a sky that reflected the bright colors they had surrounded themselves with all day.

Newport Wedding

I’m glad that I was able to be a part of this wedding. Not only did I get to work with and learn from two different photographers, I also had the chance to shoot at a beautiful venue and get to spend time with a fun group of people. Alli and Glenn, thank you so much for letting us be a part of this important day in your lives! Your understanding and flexibility in what could have been a difficult situation is a testament to your characters.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And I (Krista) also want to thank Alli & Glenn for being so great through this whole chicken-pox-fiasco! It’s a photographer’s worst nightmare to not be able to shoot a wedding they’re scheduled to document, and your gracious understanding was total blessing.
And a special thank you to Melissa Coe and Jessica Cardinalli for dropping everything at a moment’s notice to help us all out!! You ladies, as well as Elizabeth, did a great job capturing the day and it’s wonderful knowing that even though I couldn’t be there, Alli & Glenn were in (lots of) good hands!
