Sylvia & Ricky’s Wedding – Sneak Peak!

I shot the most wonderful wedding for one of my favorite couples last weekend!  Since it was my first wedding of the season, and because I love Sylvia & Ricky so much – I performed a little experiment this week to see if it was even possible for me to edit the whole event before leaving for vacation tomorrow.  Well, I got super close, but I really need to start packing now… So, here’s a little sneak peak to whet your appetite!

Sylvia’s dress was GORGEOUS!!!!  Do you see that layer of gray toulle she’s got going on there?  Such a cool touch!!

And, just because Sylvia *loves* cake so much…  YUM!!

Sylvia & Ricky – I hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon!  Sorry to tease you with a few, but hopefully it’ll get you that much more excited to see the rest when I get back from vacation!  :)

Katie & Joe’s New Year’s Eve Wedding – Boston

The 2009 wedding season ended with a bang!  Literally.  My last wedding of the year was Katie & Joe‘s rockin’ wedding at the Seaport Hotel on New Year’s Eve – complete with fireworks provided by the city of Boston!  This was the first time I’d ever photographed a wedding on New Year’s Eve, and I actually loved it!  I’ve always found New Years to be a bit of a let down – expectations are high for some big fun time, and it’s never quite as exciting as you’d hoped.  But celebrating at a wedding and dancing the night away with my camera in hand definitely did not disappoint!

The evening started with the bridesmaids helping Katie get ready.  She was so cute and excited that as soon as I got there she wanted to get into her dress!

I LOVED the shots of the girls helping Katie bustle her dress!   Melissa’s take was particularly beautiful…

After we got Katie all bustled, we ran outside to the bridge to the World Trade Center for a few night shots with the city lights.

I love the cake, but the colorful lights behind make me love this shot!  That, and I’m kinda hungry right now…  ;)

And perhaps my favorite part was that Katie ended the night singing a little Journey with the band.  A girl after my own heart ♥

Katie and Joe – thank you so much for inviting me to document your wedding!  It was an absolute pleasure to spend New Year’s Eve celebrating with you and your friends & family!

And thank you, Melissa for giving up New Year’s with your husband to shoot with me!  You were a huge help, and so fun to work with… not to mention you got some great photos!  :)

Pamela & Bryan’s Wedding – Albany, NY

Pamela & Bryan found me through WeddingWire, almost 1 year ago, back when they lived in Cambridge.  Since then, they’ve moved out to Albany, where they got married at the end of the Fall.  I love to travel, so even going to Albany for the first time was kind of an exciting bonus!  Part of my branding project included making a list of things that made me happy, and on it I put “visiting a new place for the very first time”… it’s still true, even when it seems like such an ordinary place (you know, compared to Zimbabwe or Cabo or Paris).  Albany, as it turns out, is a very cool town.  And Pamela & Bryan’s wedding ended up being lovely, and definitely fun!

I love this shot that my second shooter, Cait Robbins, captured!

Pamela & Bryan decided to do a First Look before the ceremony, so we could get some portraits before the sun went down and so they didn’t have to feel rushed before the reception.  So, Pamela & I went over by the Hudson River and waited for Bryan to come across the footbridge.  It was COLD out but, we ended up with some great photos!

Since it was freezing, we went back to the Crowne Plaza for a few more portraits where it was nice and warm!

After portraits, it was time to get ready for the ceremony!  I LOVE this shot of Pamela’s grandmother reading the program!  I’m a sucker for grandparents anyway, but this is one of my faves!

The wedding was held at the beautiful Historic St. Mary’s Church

Since we’d done the first look, after the ceremony, the Pamela & Bryan just got to relax and enjoy some downtime before the reception started!

The First Dance they practiced so hard went off without a hitch!

Later in the evening they had an Anniversary Dance and Pamela’s grandparents were the only couple left on the dance floor.  Pamela knew that would happen, and arranged to have their first dance song played for a special dance… You Made Me Love You by Judy Garland.  I’m not going to lie, I was totally crying!

Albany Wedding

Pamela & Bryan – thank you so much for inviting us to be part of your day, and making us feel so welcome!  It was such a great day, and definitely a fun party!  Congratulations again, and I hope you love the photos!

Elena & Dan’s Wedding – The Details

Dan & Elena‘s wedding at The Crane Estate was so beautiful!  I’d never shot there before and was just blown away by how gorgeous it is!  Between the stellar location, and the fabulous flowers and details by Kate Parker, I figured I’d share a few more images from their day!

Elena and Dan are huge sports fan, so all of their tables were named after championship winning teams, and guests received tickets instead of table numbers.  It was such a cool way to take this fancy, dramatic wedding and make it also very personal and fitting.  (some images in this collage by Ned & Shannon)

Elena & Dan’s Wedding – The Crane Estate

Elena & Dan got married this Fall at the beautiful Great House at Castle Hill on the Crane Estate in Ipswich.  It was a nice sunny day, but turned very cold and windy just before we got to the estate.  Not the best combination for an outdoor ceremony, but they made the best of it and the whole event turned out just lovely!  Here’s a look at a few of my favorites from the day!

By the time the ceremony ended, we only had a few minutes left of daylight.  I hate how early the sun sets in the Fall & Winter!  It would have been cool to photograph Dan & Elena around the grounds, but luckily the inside of the mansion was beautiful as well!  We caught a few great portraits on the stairs.  I don’t think they were supposed to sit on that bench though… oops!

Crane Estate Wedding

Ned captured this shot (laying on the stairs, if I do recall).  How perfect is that painting behind them of the boy & girl on a bench?

OK, I have to admit, I don’t normally love cake cutting shots.  It’s just not my favorite part of the reception.  But I loved this shot… the way she’s grabbing his face is so sweet!

Anne & Sean’s Wedding – Hingham, MA

I loved Anne & Sean‘s Wedding!  The whole day was fun and full of emotion, an old fashioned feel but a little bit funky.  Check out the previous post below for some more of the details.

We started the day at Anne’s parents’ house in Hingham while Anne was getting ready…

Hingham Wedding

Ever since I got the new Totally Rad Actions Dirty Pictures, I’ve been able to use textures in my photos more and more.  I’ve been wanting to play with this for a long time, but TRA finally came up with a way to make it easy for me… I love that :)  I really liked this one with the full-blown texture.  It feels like a painting to me.  What do you think?  Do you like it better with or without the texture?

Hingham Wedding

Shortly after Anne got ready, Sean came over to the house for a First Look.  When it came time for them to see each other, they really just wanted to have a private moment alone.  I waited in the stairway to capture them as soon as they came out.  It killed me to not get to photograph that moment, but I guess it’s not ALL about the photos in the end ;)

Hingham Wedding

We did get to capture everyone else’s first look at Anne in her dress though!  My assistant, Elizabeth caught this shot of Anne’s Dad and friend seeing her come down the stairs.  Priceless!

Hingham Wedding

We shot few portraits in the beautiful light in the back yard before heading off to the wedding

Hingham Wedding

Anne surprised Sean with a sign with their names on it at the theatre across from the Old Derby.  I loved his reaction when he saw it!!

Hingham Wedding

Ah, the militiamen!  Such a cool touch to the day!

Hingham Wedding

I love the contrast here…

Hingham Wedding

Old Ship Church is one of the most unique churches I’ve ever shot in.  It’s almost entirely wood everywhere, and really beautiful – and the pews are these boxes that you step into.  Totally interesting and different!

There were a lot of tears throughout the day

and a LOT of laughter!

After the ceremony, the militiamen fired off a round from their muskets and lead everyone in a parade down the street to the Old Derby for the reception.

Anne & Sean – thank you again for letting us be a part of your day!  We had so much fun, and just loved working with you and your family & friends.  It’s always so nice to photograph an event where each and every guest truly loves and is so genuinely excited for the bride & groom!  I hope you enjoy years and years of that kind of happiness, and all sorts of laughter together!

Anne & Sean’s Wedding – Black & White FILM

Anne & Sean got married in Hingham this Fall and their wedding had such a cool flare to it!  They got married at Old Ship Church and had their reception at Old Derby, they even had some old militiamen around to fire off some muskets!  It was an awesome blend of old with a modern flair.  I think black & white film was a perfect fit to capture some of that feel!  I wish I could have shot the whole day in film!  But as you’ll see in a couple days, the digital was pretty cool too :)  Here are a few of my favorites…

Sara & Steve’s Wedding – Gorgeous Details

As I mentioned in my last post, Sara & Steve’s wedding was GORGEOUS!  There were so many great little details throughout the day, I thought I’d share them in a post all their own!

The flowers were so interesting and different!  I love all the feathers and unique touches they put into all of the arrangements.  The coolest part… Sara’s MOM did all the flowers!
