I met Rebecca over six years ago, when she was a bridesmaid in her sister, Elizabeth’s wedding. I liked her right away because she was the youngest (just like me) and she seemed to be the most sentimental and definitely the most likely to cry of the three sisters (just like me). I saw her a few times over the years as I continued to photograph their family out in Michigan, and here in Boston. So, when I got her email telling me she’d gotten engaged, I was so thrilled she wanted me to shoot the wedding, but I was also really excited to see the family again, and to witness Rebecca marry the man she loves!! There really is something special about working with the same family again and again over the years! Take a look at my favorites from their beautiful wedding day…
Nora & Kevin — Artists for Humanity Epicenter Wedding – xo, CoCo
GUYS! I can’t even TELL you how excited I am to share this wedding! You may remember Nora and Kevin from their snuggly, beer-induced, winter engagement session. These two are an absolute favorite around the studio, I was so excited to see them on their wedding day, and true to form they laughed, they cried, they snuggled, it was SO. FUN.
How can YOU help fight Human Trafficking?
Wow! It’s been a busy couple of weeks since we screened our documentary film, Untouchable: Children of God here in Boston. The screening was AWESOME – 114 people attended in spite of the freezing cold weather and crazy traffic! There were tons of great questions after the film, and I wanted to respond to one here publicly. The big question of the night was – How can we help?! That really is the whole point of the film – not only to raise general awareness, but to stir people to action! So, this is the best question ever!!! I’ve got a bunch of thoughts on how to answer it, and this is my by-no-means-exhaustive list of responses:
Spread the word about Untouchable! We need your help to get our film out into your communities! We’ve got screenings planned all over the country, with more being organized every day. You can be a HUGE help simply by spreading the word in a few really easy ways.
- Share your thoughts & passion about the film, with a link to our Website &/or our Screenings Page on Facebook/Twitter/Google+ and every social media site you can imagine!
- Invite your friends to screenings in their area! View a complete list of screenings here, and you can see some of the FB events listed here. Invite your friends through Facebook, email them the links and encourage them to attend, share the screenings in your area on your wall and ask you friends to join you.
- Reach Out to local community groups and non-profits and encourage them to support, attend, and share about the film. Groups that might be great to reach out t0 – local Nepali & Indian ex-pat communities and meetups, anti-trafficking organizations, human rights organizations, local churches and religious groups, etc.
Got any more ideas? Leave a comment below! Get creative!
Plan a Screening of the film! There are some really easy ways for you to plan and host a screening of the film in your own neighborhood.
- At Home Screening – Buy a copy of the DVD at one of our screenings (online options coming soon), or rent the film on Vimeo (available May 1, 2015) – then invite a couple of friends or your small group over to watch the film and talk about it!
- Community Venue Screening – Partner with a local church, non-profit or community organization that has a space & screen large enough to view the film. Screenings can be set up through Tugg. The venue/organizer needs to pay in advance for the rights to show it to a group (cost varies by size of the space) – but then they can charge a ticket price if they need to recoup the cost. Organizers can connect with local anti-trafficking non-profits and even use it as a fundraiser. There is no threshold for this type of screening – so the screening can proceed no matter how many people attend.
- Theater Screening – Anyone can host a screening in a local theater almost anywhere in the US through our partner, Tugg Inc. Any individual, community organization, church, or non-profit can use this option – and Tugg partners with theaters all over the country so it can be done in nearly any US city. The Organizer/Promoter gets a small percentage of the profits for promoting the film – which is a bit of work. Theater Screenings can be held on weekdays, and must meet a threshold of tickets sold within a week of the event in order for the screening to proceed. Non-profits can also use the site to take donations when people buy their tickets, and use it as a fundraiser. This is a great option for any anti-trafficking group that wants to host a screening to raise awareness about the subject in general, and about their organization too.
With either the Community Venue or Theater Screening options, Code Red Films and Krista Photography with help where we can to promote your screening, and can possibly provide resources like DVDs for sale, and having one of the crew attend for Q&A, depending upon location & scheduling. With either option we recommend creating a facebook event and inviting everyone you know in the area, posting on facebook often and early, emailing people directly to invite them and encouraging others to do the same. We’ve also created a Press Kit to help you set it up.
GIVE Giving of your time, talents & resources is always helpful as Code Red and all anti-trafficking efforts rely on the generosity of their supporters. There are a few ways to get involved with the film, in Nepal & India, and even in your local area…
- Support Code Red Films – Code Red Films is a registered 501c3 Nonprofit Organization, and all projects are funded by generous donations of supporters from all over the world. Supporting projects like Untouchable involves not just the costs of producing the film, but promoting & marketing the film (which takes just as long, I’m learning). Code Red Films also directly supports Asha Nepal, one of the organizations highlighted in our film (more info below). Financial contributions can me made HERE. Code Red is also looking for Volunteers, Interns, Board Members, Editors, PR/Marketing professionals, etc. – contact Grant Knisely to explore opportunities! Don’t forget to like Code Red Films on Facebook and Twitter, as well as the Untouchable: Children of God page, and stay up to date about the latest news & events!
- Support NGOs in Nepal & India – There are a number of great organizations we worked with in Nepal and India while we film the documentary, and a bunch that we learned about during the process, or that I’ve supported on my own over the years. This is not an exhaustive list, but a few that I think are especially awesome! You should like them on Facebook to stay informed at the very least!
- Out of Ashes
- Asha Nepal
- Catalyst
- Courage Homes
- Bombay Teen Challenge
- Justice Ventures
- Tiny Hands International
- Not For Sale
- International Justice Mission
- Buy Products Made by Survivors of Trafficking
- Support LOCAL Organizations – Our film highlights the issue of trafficking in Nepal & India, but the truth is that girls, women and boys are trafficked EVERYWHERE – even in your hometown. There are lots of great organizations fighting for freedom in your neck of the woods. You can use these resources to find them.
- A21 Campaign
- Love146
- Polaris Project
- Find local organizations through the Global Modern Slavery Directory, HumanTrafficking.org or End Slavery Now
- Stop the Traffick
- Truckers Against Trafficking
- Freedom Network
- Thorn
- Boston-area Organizations
- Amirah House
- The GIFT Program (Roxbury Youthworks)
- Not For Sale Massachusetts
- MA Coalition to End Human Trafficking
As you can see, there are SO many ways to get involved and make a difference!! Use your unique talents to make a difference, use your voice and your reach! If we all work together to fight this great injustice, there’s no reason we can’t succeed!
Lori + Jim — Mack House at Cape Cod Wedding
Are you ready for this?! Lori, in her Jenny Packham dress and Jim as dapper as can be, were married at the stunningly beautiful Mack House in Chatham on Cape Cod. It was an amazing day, and these two looked like they were straight out of a movie!
Lori & the girls got ready at the Mack House where the wedding was held – love that space! She had these cute pink robes for each bridesmaid with their initial on them – so fun!
Jim and the guys got ready over at the Chatham Bars Inn, and my fabulous Associate CoCo was there to capture it all
Haha, I love this!
So dashing!
Back at the house, it was time to get Lori into her breathtaking Jenny Packham dress! I mean that literally, I totally gasped when I saw it! Such a stunner!
Our third shooter for the day, and the talented calligrapher behind all of the stationary, Jessica Ulrich, caught bridesmaid Jillian reacting to Lori in her dress.
Lori, you’re so beautiful!!
Our very dapper groom! I mean, he looks like Dean Martin or something!
Time for the First Look!
Jim’s reaction is priceless! Great capture, CoCo!
So happy!

Such a lovely place for a wedding!
More laughter! Always a good thing!
Married!!
Post-ceremony bliss! My favorite moment of the day!!
Groomsmen, every wedding’s best comic relief
Lori & Jim were totally done with portraits, but I just HAD to sit them down for a moment in this beautiful light! And then they did this… and it’s my favorite photo of the day! So glad we took that extra 2 minutes to make it happen!
Cocktail Hour! It’s always so nice when we get the portraits done before the ceremony so they can enjoy, and I can actually shoot this part of the day!
Cheers!
It’s never too late to finish writing your Best Man Toast! He assures me he got it done with plenty of time to spare!
Our girl Amy came along with us for her very first wedding! She snagged this great shot from the deck! Pretty sweet first wedding to shoot, I must say!
Gorgeous! Oh, how I love the Cape!
Then it was reception time! I snagged this right before Lori & Jim walked into the tent – they look ready, don’t they?!
Love these that Jessica captured of the first dance!
Toasts!
Time to hit the dance floor! Greg from Beat Train Productions kept it awesome all night long, as usual!
Amazing
Keepin’ it classy
Had to go out on the dock and get a shot of the tent at night! I love me some blue skies at twilight!
Lori & Jim – THANK YOU! We absolutely loved being a part of your day, and wish you so much happiness!!
Big thanks to my super sized Krista Photography team for the day – CoCo, Amy & Jessica! You guys not only rocked, but made the day, and the whole weekend even more delightful! xoxo
Be sure to come back Monday to check out some of my film images from the wedding! We had to shoot a few at least! And head on over to Facebook to view more of my favorites from Lori & Jim’s wedding weekend!
Liz + Pete — State Room Wedding
Liz & Pete were married at the State Room in downtown Boston. What a day! Krista and I hung out with the girls most of the morning and they were a complete riot, all of them having so much fun, and obviously just loving the time they got to spend together. The whole day proved to be just like that, a love fest, seriously. Liz & Pete have the most adoring and loving group of family and friends. It was the most wonderful atmosphere to be a part of. And WAIT til you see the dance party!
Ok so here we go, Krista and I started with Liz and her girls in their suite at The Ames Hotel, just a couple blocks from the State Room, its SO beautiful, a super fun space to shoot in with great light and really cool furniture! Here’s Liz reading a lovely note from Pete.
Don’t you love those robes she gave the girls?!
Anne Ruthmann, who we LOVE, started with Pete and his groomsmen in their suite at the Ames as well.
I grabbed this of Liz in those *awesome* windows.
HAH!
LOVE Pete’s face!
Give it a spin girl!
I grabbed this of Liz trying to figure out her veil, it was sooo long and beautiful.
And this too, they just couldn’t stop staring! :)
Then we were all ready to head down to the first look and Liz says, “Krista do youuuu wanna hold my lipgloss????” How could we refuse this girl?
Anne got Pete ready for the first look! So dashing in his bowtie!
Love Pete’s face in this shot from Anne! I think he was blown away!
We ran into this stairwell around the corner, Krista went upstairs and Anne grabbed this. I swear every inch of the Ames is interesting to photograph.
Krista rode with the couple to the Public Gardens, I’m amazed there isn’t anyone in the background of this shot!
Krista brought along a roll or two of Black and White film too, aren’t these two classic? Shot with Krista’s Holga on Kodak Tri-x 400 ISO/120 mm film.
And THIS with her Widelux on Kodak Tri-x 400 ISO/35mm film.
Shoot girl!
Anne grabbed this of the bridal party after some family formals in the Gardens.
Then it was over to the enormous and stately Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Another with the Widelux on Kodak Tri-x 400 ISO/35mm film.
Married!
Then it was on to The State Room!
Love this pairing from Anne.
Another from Anne
This is also from Anne, of Liz and her dad dancing, while Liz’s sister Lauren sang.
Then it was party time!
In case you can’t tell, the dance floor was PACKED.
Liz was my hero on the dance floor.
Love BOTH sets of parents getting down!
Ya gotta throw the Bride and Groom around a bit to end the night!
I conveniently forgot to mention that even though I was taken out of the game with food poisoning halfway through the day, and Krista lost a flash (it tumbled to the floor) in the midst of the craziest dance party ever, Krista and I were incredibly grateful to have Anne Ruthmann along for the ride as well as the wonderful Cristen Farrell, who rescued and replaced me earlier in the night.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you Liz & Pete, you two are unbelievably wonderful. Seriously.
See the rest of you on Friday for their classy pastel and grey details!
Averie + Keith — Hacienda Tres Rios Destination Wedding
Alright folks, hold on to your hats, this is a big one!
For months and months Krista and I were endlessly talking about shooting this wedding. From flights, hotels, transportation, visas, equipment… WHEW! It was a LOT of work to get prepped for this shoot but was so incredibly worth it. Averie and Keith worked tirelessly to bring this event together, along with their TWO wedding planners of course! They had a very select number of family and friends attend the wedding. If you ask me it was the PERFECT amount of people, their nearest and dearest, and even Krista and I felt like part of the crew in the end. It was an absolute BLAST!
So let us begin! After a day or two in Cancun, Krista and I made our way down to the Hacienda Tres Rios to meet the crew, hang by the pool, let our equipment get used to the crazy humidity, and ya know shoot some pictures.
First up… the welcome party! Complete with sombreros and maracas to get everyone in the spirit!
Its always good to have FUN at your rehearsal.
And it continues…
Everyone loved the mustaches!
Their party was tucked away in the gorgeous little grove of palm trees, so dreamy.
Ok now onto the BEAUTIFUL bride! Krista started with Averie as she got ready, safely hiding in the AC :)
Her dress was absolutely perfect, fit her like a glove and just BEAUTIFUL.
Love all of the coral dresses, such a wonderful accent color for the all of Averie’s other details.
Keith gave Averie a lovely present and the sweetest card, you know I love a girl who can cry!
Meanwhile, I started out with Keith and the boys. Where Keith was focused, and the boys….
…were busy with other things, hahaha.
Ok enough horsing around, time for the first look!
Check it out! Love the kick at the bottom of her dress.
Its a good thing you can’t tell from the pictures how HOT it was… whew!!
Pretty sure, I’m fixing Averie’s shoes at the bottom of this frame, whatever it takes!
Ok, time to hide away for the ceremony! Love this of Averie and her dad, no jitters for this girl!
I waited up at the top of the altar for this one, wasn’t this place gorgeous!?
Tied together for life!
Krista and I waded around in the water to grab these shots, slightly dangerous… totally worth it!
A mariachi band led them through the resort to the reception site!
We were on a nice big patio at the edge of one of the main pools, they had lounge furniture and lights strung around, and a gracious breeze!
Twilight approached as everyone ate, man oh man that sky!
Then it was time to dance!
Averie had a costume and hair change too!
The mustaches and beards made their way into the dance floor too!
Whew! That’s it guys! What a blast it was reliving this wedding, and there’s still more! Stay tuned for Averie & Keith’s Trash-the-Dress and impeccable details posts coming up this week!
More on their facebook album too!
Fran & James’ Wedding – DeCordova Museum
If you thought Fran & James’ Engagement Session was fun, you’re going to LOVE their wedding!! They got married at the deCordova Museum & Sculpture Park in Lincoln, MA – what a cool venue! I’d been dying to shoot there and it definitely lived up to my excitement. Check out my favorites from the day…

These guys were so fun to work with!
Probably my favorite shot of the day!!!! A little pre-ceremony soda to get ready – a woman after my own heart :)
very cool shot of the rabbi by Allana
Time to get married!
The sunlight coming through the trees, the moss aisle, the gorgeous chuppa… it was PERFECT!
His family is Jewish, her family is Russian Orthodox – their wedding was a beautiful combination of both traditions
In general, at every wedding, my favorite shots of the couple are usually when they’re coming down the aisle and that first moment alone after they’ve said “I do!” – it’s just unadulterated JOY!
very cool shot by Allana
After the ceremony, we went up to the roof for a few more portraits
Allana’s take on the moment
Haha!!!! Jumping for joy, right?!
Three of my favorites from the reception by Allana

Another of my favorite moments from the day… during the reception a slow David Gray song came on and I saw James wind his way through the crowded dance floor to find his bride and have a dance – it was so sweet I totally cried! I’m a sap, what can I say?
And just a couple last portraits inside the museum to end the night!
Fran & James – your wedding was AWESOME! Thank you so much for trusting me with capturing the memories!!! It was an absolute pleasure!
I’ll post about the details next :)

Claire & Matan’s Wedding – Hyatt Regency Cambridge
I basically didn’t blog most of my weddings from last year… but there are some that I just HAVE to share! It may take me a while, but I’m going to try to post a few of last year’s weddings, along with this year’s weddings. We’ll see how it goes! For now, allow me to introduce you to Claire & Matan…
Claire & Matan are just beautiful people. They’re gorgeous, clearly, but they’re also really beautiful people from the inside out, where it really counts. They’re lives are committed to helping people – him by working in foreign policy and her working in humanitarian aid. They’ve travelled the world putting their education and skills to work to make other people’s lives better, and I think that’s pretty awesome! It’s been so lovely working with them and getting to know them over the course of the last two years as they planned their wedding, shot their engagement session and the big day, and now we’ve designed their wedding album. But being at their wedding and hearing their friends and family speak of them, that’s when you really see how wonderful, and how loved they really are. I’m so so glad I have been able to be a part of their celebration and the beginning of their life together!
We shot their engagement session on rainy summer day in Rockport, but they absolutely made it work!
Their wedding at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge was the exact opposite – HOT and SUNNY! But once again, they made it work and everything turned out great!!
Photo below by my fabulous second shooter, Allana Taranto
Quite possibly my favorite First Look ever!
Photo below by my wonderful Assistant, CoCo Boardman
A few sunny portraits along the River
Another great shot by Allana
Allana had the brilliant idea of putting them in this tree, and I LOVE how it turned out!!
A shot from my widelux in black & white film
Then it was back to the Hyatt for the festivities!
My favorite shot of Claire and her father!
Widelux film shot of the ceremony
Their vows were so lovely, even I was crying at this point!

They literally danced their way out!! Talk about excited :)
Loved this shot of Claire’s friend and her husband :)

Their dance floor was definitely a BLAST!!
Claire & Matan! Thank you so much for inviting me into this happy day in your lives, and for making all of the months of work leading up to and away from the day such a pleasure!!!

Rahel & Yitzi’s Orthodox Wedding – Quincy MA
I don’t even know how to begin summing up Rahel & Yitzi‘s wedding… family, love, emotion, joy, FUN, energy, party, dancing, lovely, reverent, and wonderful all describe the day! It was a Jewish Orthodox wedding, so it was very different from your average American wedding in a lot of cool ways. With all that goes on during an Orthodox wedding, I usually need a little extra help so we ended up with 4 of us photographing this wedding and capturing every moment of the day! We shot a gazillion images it seemed, but somehow I’ve narrowed it down to a few of my favorites…
Rahel, the beautiful bride
A happy moment with her sisters, Yonina and Shoshana
My second shooter, Glen Cooper, captured this great shot of Yitzi praying during the Tisch
My take on the same time
Love this shot by my assistant Christopher Weigl
So much emotion between Yitzi & his father in this series caught by Glen
The Bedecken is by far, my favorite part of the Jewish Orthodox wedding day! Rahel & Yitzi hadn’t seen each other all week before the wedding, and in this moment, the groom is presented to his bride by friends and family with dancing and singing! It was SO emotional! I was totally crying!
The groom then lowers the veil over the bride’s face…
He had tears just streaming down his face! Oh, it was precious!
Then the Fathers each bless the bride… more tears…
Rahel holding her mother and Yitzi’s mother’s hands
Then they carried Yitzi off for more singing and dancing before the marriage ceremony (shot by Glen). Don’t you just love how joyous this is?! I mean most people are happy for the bride & groom, but these people are THRILLED that these two are getting married! It’s glorious!
Giving away the bride
A cute moment between Rahel & Yitzi, captured by Glen
I love the graceful look of her hands holding up the veil in this shot
Another great shot by Chris – note the tear in Yitzi’s eye. I told you it was an emotional day!
Married!
After they had a few moments alone following the ceremony, I took Rahel & Yitzi outside for a few portraits.
It started raining again though, so we went back inside for a few more portraits. Luckily, the Granite Links Golf Club had some lovely indoor space for photos!
They’re so cute :)
Let the fun begin!!
Another unique thing about Orthodox Weddings is that for much of the reception, the men dance on one side of the dance floor, and the women on the other. It’s cool to see a big group of men dancing and singing together with such fervor! They’re definitely not messin’ around! shot by Glen (if you look closely, you can see me in the shot… it’s like Where’s Waldo?)
This one was shot by my 2nd 2nd shooter, Nicki Pardo!
The guests often dance & perform for the Bride & Groom also. This guy was roasting marshmallows for them with a fire on top of his hat… I have no idea how he dreamed that up, but it was definitely entertaining!
And then there’s always more dancing…
Rahel & Yitzi – your wedding was just wonderful! I’m so thankful to have been a part of it, and to work with your family again! I’m already looking forward to Yonina’s wedding (one of these days) ;)
