Recently one of my lovely brides from 2008 was interviewed for a piece for Beantown Bride. Liana is a dietitian and has all sorts of great tips for brides to look great on their wedding day! We needed a head shot for the article, so I of course had to shoot it! I love a good excuse to see my brides again :) Here are a few of my favorites from our photo session…
Baby Austin – Columbus, OH
Just a little while back I went home to the midwest to visit some friends and family. One of my oldest and dearest friends, Marietta had a baby back in November and I still hadn’t met him yet! So, I headed over to Columbus for some quality time and a little photo session. And oh, he is SO ridiculously cute!!! Such a sweet baby, and the cutest chubby cheeks!
Little baby parts :)
Marietta’s mom was in town, and on my way out of my room in the morning, this is what I saw… (I went back in for my camera, I seriously don’t carry it around with me alllll the time!)
It’s so strange to see someone you’ve known since you were both 7 years old become a mom! It’s just surreal. and also beautiful.
Hello gorgeous!
Mar, Austin, and Mike – family photo
And then it was time for a nap. I believe this one shot I took woke him up – oops :)
Do you see those eyes?!
austin :)
Marietta is such a wonderful Mom!!
Um, I had to get a shot with my cute chubby baby!!!!
Marietta, I love you!! I’m so glad I finally got to meet Austin – he’s just precious and I love him! I’m coming home again this Summer and I can’t wait to see how big he gets by then :) Miss you!

Sylvia & Ricky’s Wedding at the Commander’s Mansion
I’ve already told you how much I love Sylvia & Ricky, so I probably don’t need to say that again ;) But, let me tell you how hard it was to choose images for this post! I had so many favorites from this wedding, it’s ridiculous! So, here are a few of my favorite favorites – but if you want to see more, you should check out the album on Facebook and check back here in a couple days for some of the details from the day!
Sylvia was lovin’ those eyelashes!
My assistant Andrea Servidone captured this shot and I love it! Sylvia’s hand makes it perfect.
Ricky’s brother insisted he could tie a tie better than Ricky… Of course, Ricky re-tied the tie a few minutes later ;)
Reading a card from Sylvia… I LOVE his reaction!
These two are big into cards… Here’s Sylvia reading her card from Ricky :)
Ugh! Her dress was so GORGEOUS!! It was so soft and lovely, I just kept wanting to touch it – but I didn’t.
Haha! The many faces of a bride before her wedding…
My Second Shooter, Johnny Arguedas captured this great shot while the guys were waiting for us to arrive at the Commander’s Mansion.
One of my favorite First Look reactions ever! (Johnny caught Sylvia’s reaction)
There was a lot of laughter that day…
Seriously! She’s so cute!
A few portraits inside the mansion
And then a few out by the grape arbor. Andrea caught this one through the fence.
And Johnny had the brilliant idea to put them under the arbor. I was avoiding it because of the shadows, but I actually love how the shadows turned out. Here’s Johnny’s take on the moment.
Then it was off to the St. John’s Korean United Methodist Church in Lexington for the ceremony. I love how her Dad is looking at her before he walks her down the aisle! So sweet!
Johnny caught this great shot of the Bride & Groom going down the aisle
After the wedding ceremony, Sylvia & Ricky had a traditional Korean Pae Baek for their families, complete with a change of outfits, excessive heat and a piggy-back ride…
Then it was back to the Commander’s Mansion for the super fun dance party!!
Sylvia & Ricky – you’re awesome. period. :)
The Great Giveaway!
Well, I’m back from vacation, and man it was WONDERFUL! It was so relaxing, and very very fun :) If I’m lucky, I might even be able to share some photos with you guys before next year’s vacation comes around!
This week has been pretty busy though because I’ve been preparing for a huge event we’re putting on at my church, GENESIS. It’s called The Great Giveaway, and basically it’s a huge yard sale where everything is FREE! That’s right, FREE! GENESIS was planted in Woburn last September as a brand new church and our mission is simply to love God and to love people. This is our way of introducing ourselves to the community, and just one way we’re hoping to live out our mission. If you live in the Boston area, I hope you can come!!
GENESIS Community Church – 16 Wheeling Avenue, Woburn, MA
Saturday, May 22nd (that’s tomorrow!)
10am – 2pm
If you would like to donate anything to The Great Giveaway, it’s not too late! Our final drop-off time is this afternoon/evening. Just bring your furniture, clothing, kids toys, sporting equipment, books, CDs, salad spinners, or what have you to the church between 2pm – 9pm!
Going on VACATION!!
Well, it’s that time of year again! Time for a trip to the BEACH with the fam!! I will officially be off-line for most of next week, so don’t expect an email or call from me unless it’s REALLY important! I’ll be busy…
Looking at clouds…
watching dolphins swim free…
having a ridiculous amount of fun with my niece & nephews, sister, bro-in-law, and parents…
We will be sure to grab some family portraits too!
I’ll even get a couple photos of ME! (my sister took this one :)
And my nephew, Tristan took this one!
And, since it’s Mother’s Day… Here’s me & my Momma! Happy Mother’s Day Mom! I love you, and double-love that we get to spend the day together on the beach!!!!!!!! S.W.A.K!
Ok, I’m off! Have a great week people!
Sylvia & Ricky’s Wedding – Sneak Peak!
I shot the most wonderful wedding for one of my favorite couples last weekend! Since it was my first wedding of the season, and because I love Sylvia & Ricky so much – I performed a little experiment this week to see if it was even possible for me to edit the whole event before leaving for vacation tomorrow. Well, I got super close, but I really need to start packing now… So, here’s a little sneak peak to whet your appetite!
The Bridal Party at the Commander’s Mansion
Sylvia & Ricky :)
Sylvia’s dress was GORGEOUS!!!! Do you see that layer of gray toulle she’s got going on there? Such a cool touch!!
Under the grape arbor
And, just because Sylvia *loves* cake so much… YUM!!
Sylvia & Ricky – I hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon! Sorry to tease you with a few, but hopefully it’ll get you that much more excited to see the rest when I get back from vacation! :)
Baby Tellen
I hope you people like cute babies! Because there’s no shortage of them over here these days! All my clients, and friends are having babies it seems. Love it! :)
I was hanging out with my friend’s baby, Tellen, the other day. And I could not resist photographing her gorgeous little face. I mean her little nose, and her chubby cheeks were seriously just TOO MUCH!!
She looks a little freaked out, but trust me, we’re totally buds!
See!
Oh. my. goodness!
Apparently this last shot right here, this sleeping child, made me the “Tellen-whisperer” :)
Tellen – you’re too cute for words!
Chloe’s 8-Month Portraits
Hello little blog! How are you these days? Oh, neglected, huh. :( That’d be my fault… I’m sorry! Things are really picking up though, and I promise I’ll be taking much better care of you from now on – starting now!!
What better way to get back into the swing of things, than to share some photos of darling little Chloe! We’ve been doing a Year-In-The-Life series and when she turned 8 months, it was time for another session. She just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and boy is she CUTE! Look at her!
She’s got a great laugh!
Oh, those EYES!
Daddy likes her with a bow in her hair ;)
I love the chaos of this photo – kids, cats, and teddy bears
Chloe had just started standing up in her crib at in the morning, so we had to document it!
I can’t believe this cat was up for this!
And a few portraits with Mom & Dad :)
Gretchen & Justin – it was a pleasure as always to see you guys! Hard to believe that Chloe’s going to be a year old soon! Keep in touch and let me know when to set up our final session in this Year-in-the-Life!
Get Lit!
As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve attended some great workshops lately! One of the first was Doug Levy’s Get Lit Workshop hosted by ASA Photographic. The whole day was focused on learning more about off-camera flash. I have some experience with off-camera flash, but since I prefer to shoot with natural light, I figured it would be good to invest in learning a bit more. It’s always good to try new things and step outside your comfort zone a little bit!
The day started with some intensive teaching in the morning, and we spent some time trying out what we’d learned and playing with Doug & ASA’s gear in the afternoon :)
here’s Doug…
At one point we broke up into teams and had to recreate one of Doug’s favorite shots using a model and whatever lights we wanted. We got pretty close to the same lighting Doug used in his original…
Later, Doug gave each person a real life challenge. When you’re on a shoot, crazy things can happen and it’s good to be prepared for any situation. My assignment was to shoot with one off-camera flash to get a nice portrait while balancing the ambient light using gels. The trick to my assignment was that I had 7 minutes total, and was NOT allowed to use my LCD screen to see if I’d gotten it right. Not even the histograms! As someone who’s never used gels, this was a little crazy. You’ll see that I’m showing you the image in black & white…. I think I got a good shot, but the color was totally off! Sometimes the best learning experiences are failures ;)
Thanks Doug for a great workshop! Here’s to playing more with lighting at my shoots this year!
