So, it’s been six months, but “baby” AJ turned ONE! Krista was invited over to document his first taste of cake (unsure at first… but someone figured it out!) and catch this family in the midst of life with an almost-toddler.
Wellesley Family Portrait Session
Krista was so happy to hear from Jesse and Julie! She photographed Jesse’s sister Meredith’s wedding several years ago and his other sister, Adrienne, and her family (remember Joel and Seth?!) this spring. What a fun pair of boys Krista spent the day with!!
In constant motion, but those GRINS!!
Love it!
Such brotherly love!
Awwww.
Thank you, Jesse and Julie! Your family is so much fun!
Baby Eden – Newborn Portrait Session at Home
Krista has been photographing the Hamel family for the last three years. From engagement, to marriage, to having their first son, to now adding baby Eden to the mix! Look closely and you may even see some Krista Photography gracing the wall in the background… :)
Awww!
The looks shared between a mama and her brand new baby are the MOST precious.
I spy with my little eye…. a Krista Photography canvas. :) (Print your pictures!!!)
Suze and Jeremy, your growing family is adorable!
Baby Donnie – Backyard family portrait session
Krista met Jessica several years ago when she was a bridesmaid in Elena and Dan’s wedding and was thrilled to hear from her wanting to do family portraits at the family’s home. Backyard firepit, a walk in the woods, an adorable pup AND baby boy with two perfectly placed bottom teeth – it made for a fabulous morning!
Thank you for asking Krista to spend the morning with your adorable family!
Elena + Olivier — Winchester Backyard Wedding Details – xo, CoCo
Yay it’s time for Elena and Olivier’s beautiful and romantic details from their chic backyard wedding! These two were married at Olivier’s parents’ house, where much preparation was put into having the ceremony outside, but mother nature had other plans… Nevertheless these two had a fabulous day, and I don’t think they would have had it any other way!
Lots of work went into making this ceremony site beautiful, my second shooter for the day Allana documented while it was still dry. :)
Meanwhile I started with Elena as she got ready downtown, LOVE her Sara Gabriel birdcage veil.
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything like Elena’s dress, and wait til you see it on, it fit her like a glove!
The house was full of eclectic details.
The tent was set up in the backyard, giving everything an intimate house party feel.
My friends at Gourmet Caterers did a fabulous job with the food, not to mention emergency coordinating! :)
See, it went off without a hitch! Such a beautiful day, thank you Elena and Olivier for rolling with the punches, and having FUN! And a special shout out to Jeanne at Gourmet for helping everything run smoothly! You are a life-saver!

Elena + Olivier — Winchester Backyard Wedding – xo, CoCo
These two rocked their rainy day wedding like no other. I tell ya, I must have been *really* good luck in September because for a couple weeks there it felt like it only rained on Saturday! Despite the derailment of some very well-intentioned plans, these two had an absolute ball at their wedding. And though it didn’t go exactly to plan, the result was perfectly unique and beautiful, just like them!
I started out with Elena earlier in the afternoon, as she got her makeup done. I mean, the hair, the lips, I can’t get enough.
How great is her Sara Gabriel Headpiece?!
Some last minute arrangements. :)
Back in her hotel room, Elena’s grandmother buttoned her up, I could not get enough of that gorgeous lace dress!
My wonderful friend Allana started with Olivier as he got ready back at his parents’ house.
Looking right at home in his bowtie.
Elena waited in the wings as everyone lined up in the tent for the ceremony.
Her and her father were walked to the tent with an army of umbrellas!
Everyone gathered around the dance floor.
It was a beautiful and intimate ceremony, and they were literally surrounded by their guests!
We did family formals inside, saving the best for last!
We then got to steal away for a few moments, and took some portraits on the front porch.
That dress!
Elena’s grandmother gave her the necklace on the left, a family heirloom.
Allana set up this stunning portrait with the raindrops in the background, it was really coming down!
Having the tent in the backyard of Olivier’s parents’ house made for such a lovely and intimate setting, like a fabulous house party.
The tent was beatuful and warm.
And these two were having so much fun…
…especially with the cake smash!
I spy somebody kissing in the tree…
Elena and her dad started out their father daughter dance nice and slow and then exploded into this! It was AWESOME!
And the party just kept going from there, with plenty of appearances by Olivier on the mic.
Just. so. FUN! I’m so happy that despite the craziness of the day, these two let loose, embraced the rain, danced like crazy, and enjoyed every single minute of it. Thank you Elena and Olivier for such a great day! Stay tuned for their details post y’all and see more on Facebook!
Stephanie + Marc — Maine Backyard Wedding Details – xo, CoCo
It was so difficult to pick my favorites of Stephanie and Marc’s artsy, beautiful, and unique DIY details. The bride and groom were married in Stephanie’s parents’ backyard in Maine that could easily be mistaken for a sculpture park, there is art everywhere! Krista and I had an amazing day with these two, not to mention their amazingly gracious friends and family. Take a look for yourself, how could I choose?!
Krista grabbed these next three before the ceremony started.
I mean, that LIGHT.
This one is from Krista as well.
The attire was particularly fun and festive. You guys have got some stylish friends!
The barn is just a short walk own from the main house, inside Stephanie draped colorful fabric from the ceiling. It created such a cool atmosphere.
Stephanie’s mom made pine and herb sachets for each guest, so simple but so wonderful, and of course, they smell just like Maine.
Perfectly simple flowers.
Man, how fun was that?! What a gorgeous weekend, inside and out.
There were very few things the bride and groom did not make themselves, or have a family member make, here are the few vendors that helped make their weekend amazing.
Rings: Nova Samodai
Catering: Trillium Catering
Bride’s Bouquet: Bridal Bouquet
Bridal Gown: Spoil Me
Bride’s Shoes: Repetto shoes

Stephanie + Marc — Maine Backyard Wedding – xo, CoCo
Oh. My. Goodness. What an amazing weekend this was! I am so excited to share this with everyone. Stephanie and Marc are people of many talents. Marc is a composer and sound artist, Stephanie a photographer, sculptor, and writer, among many other things I’m sure :) They are thoughtful, caring, and stunningly beautiful, inside and out. Watching Stephanie’s face during Marc’s speech, and their expressions and interactions with each other and their guests throughout the weekend was such a joy. It was obvious that despite the beautiful flowers, clothing, jewelry and scenery, the most important thing to them was the people, family and friends alike. That’s what we like to see.
I apparently brought rain with me to Maine, the night of the rehearsal it was absolutely pouring. But Stephanie was unshaken, I met up with her briefly before the rehearsal in my boat shoes and yellow rain jacket, both already soaked through, and she excitedly exclaimed “You fit right in!” The dinner was held later that evening at The Slipway in Thomaston, the staff was great and the lobster to die for!
There were rain jackets and hugs aplenty during a short cocktail hour.
Stephanie’s dress was gorgeous! I couldn’t wait to see what she had for wedding day!
Stephanie’s simple and stunning dress bought from Spoil Me, what an awesome name for a bridal shop. (More on the upcoming details post!)
Stephanie got ready upstairs…
While Marc put the finishing touches on downstairs :)
Sooooo Marc needed Stephanie to do his hair for him…without seeing her…So naturally, Stephanie’s sisters just put a blind fold on him!
Stephanie’s sister Caroline made this birdcage veil for her. I think it completed her look perfectly.
Last minute teeth brushing, nbd.
Stephanie secretly watched guests arrive from her parents’ room.
This was shot with a Pentax 67, on Kodak Tri-X ISO 400, 120mm film.
Krista was my second shooter for the day and grabbed these two shots just before the ceremony started. The guests were arranged in a semi circle around the couple, in the sprawling backyard of the house, it’s like sculpture park out there!
LOVE her sister, just before walking down the aisle.
Krista’s view of Stephanie and her dad, and the ceremony below.
I found this guy watching from the back.
Love the negative space in this from Krista, too.
Gorgeous sisters!
One of my favorite family portraits, ever.
As I said Stephanie is an artist of many mediums, she draped the ceiling of the barn with gorgeous colorful fabric and lanterns. It created such a fun atmosphere.
Krista grabbed these at cocktail hour, the light was amazing!
Krista shot this on her Nikon F100, on Kodak Plus-X ISO 125 35mm film. Stephanie’s mother and her bridesmaids! How fun!
We snuck the happy couple away for some portraits in the beautiful golden light.
Krista shot this on her Widelux on Kodak Portra ISO 160 35mm film
Krista grabbed this wide shot of the same scene.
That color!
Another from the Pentax 67, on Fuji Pro ISO 400, 120mm film.
The whole room exploded with twirling napkins as the bride and groom came in. The next two are Krista’s.
Just a little cake mishap! Nothing to see here!
A very captive audience.
Here’s Krista’s view of the first dance, followed by my close-up.
Then it was finally time to GET DOWN!
I caught these kids being silly towards the end of the night, one of my favorite candids from the day.
Marc and Stephanie, it was such a pleasure for Krista and I to witness and photograph your unabashed joy. Thank you to you and your wonderful guests and family for taking us in like their own. Stephanie, a very special thank you goes out to your parents for their hospitality and altogether awesomeness. Everyone stay tuned for their killer unique details!
Melanie + Ian — Backyard Engagement Session – xo, CoCo
There is something about these two that is just so natural and beautiful. Ian is a farmer by trade and a surfer as well (with a wicked farmer’s tan to boot)! ;) Melanie is a nurse and came to us from a very good friend of Krista’s. It was so fun to hang out with them at their house in “the country” (Woburn, haha) and at Ian’s parent’s house just down the road. A simple, sweet backyard engagement, that’s all you need!
Gorgeous!
LOVE Ian’s parents’ front porch!!
Love these two! Their wedding was just as perfectly “them” as their engagement session and I can’t wait to finish editing so I can share their big day!!
Meaghan & Steve’s Wedding – Danvers, MA
I love Meaghan & Steve :) These two are good friends of mine, and it was so wonderful for me to be able to attend and shoot their wedding this summer. They got married at the home of a friend in Danvers on a cold and rainy summer day, and had such a fun and joyful party. I’m excited to share a few of my favorite photos…
So, the house where they got married is this huge home decorated in a very ornate and eclectic style. I saw people curiously walking by this painting of a cat-man all day, but Anne Ruthmann (who came to shoot with me) captured this priceless moment. I *love* this photo!!
Meaghan & her maid-of-honor getting ready in the largest and fanciest bathroom I’ve ever seen.
Steve & the guys preparing for the wedding (photos by Anne)
The stained glass wall in the bathroom was so cool. I asked my assistant Elizabeth to catch Meaghan getting into her dress through the glass, and it turned out awesome!
Meg and her brother just before he walked her down the aisle. I believe this is the moment when I started bawling my eyes out!
I love the look she gave Steve here when she got to the end of the aisle (next 2 photos by Anne)
My brother (in law) officiated the ceremony. It was the first wedding we’ve ever “worked” together. It was kinda fun having him and my sister there, along with a bunch of close friends. Totally strange to have your worlds collide like that, but still fun!
Anne came along for this wedding in part to help me out, but also to have some fun and try some new things and take some risks. She brought a tilt/shift lens and I absolutely love how the images turned out!
My beautiful friend, Meaghan
I rarely like shots of me while I’m working, but Anne caught this one, and I actually like it :)
Some of the guys were pretty distracted during portraits because there were chickens running around. Boys like to chase chickens, apparently.
Haha! This is SO Meg & Steve!! Never a serious moment with these two, I tell ya.
Love the colors in this one that Anne shot!
I love their cake toppers! I believe they were made by one of their grandfathers, years and years ago – made out of nuts! Totally cute!
There’s that tilt/shift lens again. I love the feel!
Meg’s rings are so pretty and delicate!
First dance
First dance courtesy of Anne’s fisheye lens. The dance floor was in a new room on the house, that’s still under construction. All the exposed wood was so interesting to photograph, and also very “them.”
Steve looking oh so handsome
Meg cracking up!
And, my fabulous self-portrait of me & Meg. Not sure why I’m leaning back so much, but whatever ;)
Meaghan & Steve – I love you guys!! I’m so incredibly happy for you!!!! Thank you so much for trusting me with your wedding photos. I hope you loooove them!!!!
And Anne, thank YOU so much for tagging along! All that playing really paid off, and I absolutely love the images you captured. You can come play with me anytime!! ;)
