GUYS! I can’t even TELL you how excited I am to share this wedding! You may remember Nora and Kevin from their snuggly, beer-induced, winter engagement session. These two are an absolute favorite around the studio, I was so excited to see them on their wedding day, and true to form they laughed, they cried, they snuggled, it was SO. FUN.
Leah & Elliot – Newborn Twins!
Laurie and Hakan were married back in 2012 and it’s one of those weddings we STILL talk about over here – it was SO beautiful! Krista was so thrilled to hear from them again and to learn that they were expecting twins!! Leah and Elliot are such cuties, and Laurie and Hakan, you two are as wonderful as ever!
Heart melting, that face as she snuggles her brother’s arm!
Look at all those arms and legs!
Thank you for inviting Krista back in to capture these incredible additions to your family! They are precious!!
First Ever Forever Family Portrait Day – 2013!!
It was just about two years ago that Krista and CoCo told me about an (awesome!) little idea they had been tossing around. Krista is always looking for ways to give back through her photography and CoCo had a friend actively trying to adopt in another state – together they wanted to do SOMEthing for the amazing people who make the incredible decision to add to their family through adoption. My background, as you may recall, is in social work. Specifically working for the state in child protective services. I have had the privilege of being present for many adoption finalizations over the years and I LOVED the idea of bringing these two worlds together!
From there our Forever Family Portrait Day was born! With a WHOLE lot of help and support from fellow photographers – who photographed families, assisted one another, documented the behind the scenes of our day, loaned us lighting and equipment, and so. much. more…
… and volunteers – who got families checked in, entertained children while they waited and answered LOTS of questions – we were able to photograph nearly 100 forever families!
Our very first family could not have been more perfect for kicking things off! Zoey’s adoption had been finalized just the day before, on National Adoption Day, and this family was SO full of love and excitement! You can actually read more about their adoption journey here.
There was PLENTY of goofiness at every station!
Not just in front of the camera!
Amazingly, this was not our largest family!
So much joy!
And so much sass!
Waiting so patiently.
There are SO many more families that we would love to share, unfortunately adoption can be complicated. Some families have foster children – kids who are every bit a part of the family, but not yet legally so. Others have adopted through the state DCF system and chose to remain private. Still others are simply fiercely protective of their children and prefer we not use their images. We fully respect these families’ decision to keep their images private and have only shared images of families who gave us permission to do so.
We must give a special shout out to the incredible photographers who donated their time and talents: David DiNisco, Kris Rae Orlowski, Lisa Seidel, and Emily Tebbetts. You all rock!!
Stay tuned for another post soon about our second annual Forever Family Portrait Day!
If you would like to know more about adoption and the MANY children in Massachusetts who are waiting to find their forever home, the best place to start is with the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange.

Ashley + Joe — Exchange Conference Center Wedding in Boston
I’ve gotta be honest with you… I think Joe & Ashley’s wedding was my absolute favorite for 2014! Maybe it was because they totally trusted me, and gave me the freedom to focus on the moments? Maybe it was because we had an hour to ride around Boston shooting wherever we wanted with just the two of them? Maybe it’s because they love black & white photography as much as I do? Or maybe it’s because they fed me pizza after the ceremony?! It’s hard to say… but just take a look, and I think you’ll understand!
I started with Ashley & the girls, and my lovely assistant Cristen, over at the Seaport Hotel
Meanwhile… CoCo was shooting with Joe & the guys over at the Exchange Conference Center
Then it was time for the First Look! Ashley just needed a little liquid courage before we left ;)
Clearly Joe was ready!
After a few minutes of smooches and laughter, we headed over to the Christian Science Plaza for some fun, relaxed portraits
Then it was time to meet up with the fam over at the Boston Public Gardens! Think they’re excited?!
This is totally one of my favorites! This is what is REALLY happening while we take portraits ;)
Then we headed back to Arlington Street Church to get ready for the ceremony!
So many giggles!
Then it was time for a little Pizza Break before we went to the reception!!
We stopped at Dirty Water Dough Company, and it was delicious!
Time for the reception! The toasts were hilarious!!
First Dance
Such sweet Parent Dances!
Then it was time to PARTY!!
Double Exposure in the Holga, on Tri-X Black & White Film! Love it!
So, do you see what I mean?! It was AWESOME!!!!
Wait until you see the details… next post, I promise! Meanwhile, you can see more in their album on Facebook!

Lori + Jim — Mack House at Cape Cod Wedding in Film
I am primarily a digital photographer, but I started out shooting all black & white film weddings – and I miss it sometimes!! So, every once in a while I take my film cameras along to a wedding and have a little fun with film. This time I even used some, gasp, COLOR film! Haha, haven’t done that in YEARS! Totally worth it though :)

Liz + Pete – State Room Wedding Details
Liz & Pete’s details were absolutely LOVELY. Stately, chic, classic, and fun. Exactly what every State Room wedding should be… and then they just forgot all about it and danced the night away surrounded by TONS of friends and family. Exactly what we love to see :)
Let’s start with Liz’s Lazaro dress! It was intricately detailed, and seemingly custom fit to her tiny figure, she was so happy and beautiful in her dress, she just couldn’t help twirling around and running her fingers through her veil.
And of course everyone’s favorite shoes.
This comb held in her veil. Just the right amount of bling.
I grabbed her pastel and white flowers and ran around the Ames Hotel with them, all of their furniture is black white and gray, a photographer’s paradise!
The following shots are from Anne Ruthmann of Pete’s sharp suit and his groomsmen gifts.
Also from Anne from above the Ames Hotel lobby.
Liz wore her grandmother’s ring on her right hand, it was so stunningly sparkly!
The bridal party looked great together, especially from Krista’s Widelux on Kodak Tri-x 400 ISO/35mm film!
The Lazaro bridesmaid dresses were incredible, the coolest dresses I’ve ever seen. They were draped so beautifully, were just sexy enough, and were so flattering on Liz’s girls!
The Cathedral of the Holy Cross was plain old breathtaking.
We all couldn’t stop taking pictures of Liz’s dress! Can you blame us?
The pink pastels made their way into the centerpieces as well, which varied in height with rose petals to accompany them on the tables.
Some seriously beautiful calligraphy.
Sweet and simple cake
Love that view!
NOTHING beats a live band.
Love this from Anne!
Cristen Farrell grabbed these fun shots of the photobooth.
The food at The State Room is always awesome!
Cannoli! YES!
And some bling to round it all out. I love that Pete’s ring is gold, who said they have to match?!
And a last shot from Krista’s Holga on Koday Tri-x 400 ISO/120mm film.
We have all these wonderful people to thank for bringing this beautiful day together! Not to mention the fantastic Liz & Pete!
