Angie & Matt’s Wedding – Black & White FILM

Angie & Matt’s wedding was awesome, but one of my favorite things about it was that I got to shoot a bunch of FILM for them!  I got my start in wedding photography shooting for an all black & white film studio, and I still love it :)  Digital is fabulous, and totally has taken over the industry.  But, film still has a place, in my opinion.  There’s nothing quite so timeless as black & white film.  It just looks classic.  Clearly, I love it.  Anyway, here are a few of my favorite film shots from Angie & Matt’s wedding day…

Angie & Matt – HUGE thanks for giving me the freedom to shoot some film for you!!   I hope you love how it turned out!

Sylvia & Ricky’s Wedding – FILM (finally!)

Well, this is embarrassing…  It’s been, well, months since Sylvia & Ricky’s wedding.  I shot some film that day and sent it to a new lab for scanning.  I had no idea that the lab would take MONTHS to get the scans back.  Boo!  It’s an awesome service if you’re looking to scan old stuff, and you’re not in a hurry, but it’s not so good for getting things done for clients!  Good to know…

Well, the silver lining is that the film turned out great, and the scans are awesome!  Take a look at a few of my favorites…

Sylvia and Ricky’s eSession – Black and White FILM

When we were planning Sylvia & Ricky’s engagement session down in New York City, Sylvia ask me to help her surprise Ricky with a little treat.  They’re both super excited about the black & white film we’re going to shoot at their wedding, so she decided to have some shot at their engagement session too!  I, of course, loved the idea!  So, here you go, Ricky!  I hope you enjoy your surprise :)

The first two images were shot with my Widelux

Sylvia, I hope you guys love the film and I hope Ricky likes his surprise!  :)

Anne & Sean’s Wedding – Black & White FILM

Anne & Sean got married in Hingham this Fall and their wedding had such a cool flare to it!  They got married at Old Ship Church and had their reception at Old Derby, they even had some old militiamen around to fire off some muskets!  It was an awesome blend of old with a modern flair.  I think black & white film was a perfect fit to capture some of that feel!  I wish I could have shot the whole day in film!  But as you’ll see in a couple days, the digital was pretty cool too :)  Here are a few of my favorites…

Megan & Mike’s Wedding – Black & White FILM

I was on my way to Megan & Mike‘s wedding when I got a call from Megan asking if I could shoot some film that day as well!  Luckily, my film bag was at home prepped and ready and my assistant was able to run back and pick it up.  And I’m so glad she asked :)  I love shooting film, and now generally include a bit in all my packages.  It just adds such a cool touch to the wedding day, and in this case, it was the perfect classic touch to go with some of the classic details.

Britt & Mike’s Wedding – Black & White FILM

Ok, ok, for real, this is my last post for Britt & Mike’s wedding!! I shot a few rolls of black & white film that day and just got the film back last night :) I just had to share a few!!

This was shot in 35mm film, and is meant to be printed all as one image. Unfortunately, my lab cut the film right in between two of these images (which is why I’ll be cutting all my own film from now on). There’s still a few ways we can print it and get the same effect, but this is how it was originally intended. Thank goodness for film scanners :)

Rhetta, Bill & Hannah – a blast from the past!

When I first moved out to Boston a couple of years ago, I worked for the wonderful and talented Matt & Enna Grazier. I remember clearly my first day, sitting down at the computer and browsing their website. I clicked on Portraits and stumbled across some beautiful photos of a beautiful pregnant women. But, not just any pregnant woman, this was Rhetta! Rhetta was one of my brides back in 2004 when I was an Associate for Real Life Weddings in Chicago. What a small world, huh?!
Two years later, come to find out, Rhetta is pregnant again, and looking to have some more photos taken, by me! I was totally thrilled to see her and Bill again, and to meet their darling daughter Hannah! We met up at the Arnold Arboretum and took a stroll among the changing leaves…

Hannah

What kid doesn’t love this?!

There are those leaves I was talking about…

I just love the look on Hannah’s face! And apparently rubbing her earlobe is Hannah’s thing. I love it when I can catch a kid being completely themselves – doing that thing that makes them, them.

Rhetta & Bill are so cute – just as in love as the last time I saw them!

The happy family :)

A few photos of Rhetta and her belly… Isn’t she gorgeous!

I love this one of Rhetta & Bill because as I was taking their picture Hannah said or did something cute and they both turned to look. I love their smiles as they watch their little girl.

Are you kidding me with that adorable grin?!

Hannah wanted me to smell the pretty flower :)

And Daddy too, of course!

There she goes with that ear again :)

A few fun shots of Hannah and her Dad

And Hannah with her Mom

She really is too cute!

And now, just for fun, a few photos from Bill & Rhetta’s wedding! It’s still one of my favorites from the Real Life Weddings days. And yes, this wedding was shot almost entirely in black & white film!!

Rhetta & Bill, it was SO great to see you again! Hannah is a doll and I can’t wait to meet little Sophie Grace!!

Tamara & Jason’s Wedding at The Overbrook House

Can I just say that I love Tamara & Jason? Seriously, they’re just the sweetest, most genuine and wonderful pair of people I’ve met in a while. LOVE them!! So, I was very excited to photograph their wedding a few weeks ago in Buzzards Bay at The Overbrook House. Here are some of my favorite images from the day…

Tamara’s vows – she wouldn’t put them down all morning :) I love it when couples write their own vows!!!

In love much?

I love this shot of one of the groomsmen during the ceremony!

During the vows, looking into each other’s eyes

They’d planned a beautiful ceremony in the trees by the pond, but there was a hurricane coming up the coast that day. Up until the last minute, we hoped that the weather might hold. Luckily, Jason made the executive decision to do it in the tent. Thank God he did, because right after the ceremony began it started POURING!

And then after the ceremony, the sky cleared up just in time for some portraits!

They had almost a dozen of the cutest kids you ever saw in their wedding…

I captured this shot in black & white film. I love shooting film at weddings! There’s nothing quite as timeless…

Tamara & Jason, thank you so much for letting me into your lives and having me document your wedding day! It has been so wonderful to work with and get to know you both!
